Sherio, despite his own struggles, is a gentle and empathetic creature. He knows firsthand the worries and anxieties of being a foster animal in an unfamiliar environment. This is why Sherio has become an essential source of solace and protection to other animals in similar situations. Even though he has weathered difficult times before, Sherio now revels in the warmth and affection of his caring home, where he can extend the same love and security to others in need.
Meet Sherio, a cute and furry companion who has had quite the journey in search of his forever home. Not only is he deaf, but he also struggles with partial blindness, making his search for a loving family even more difficult. Despite his challenges, Sherio’s determination has led him through two shelters and twelve foster homes, all in the hopes of finding the perfect match. Unfortunately, his adoption story has been full of ups and downs as he has been adopted four times, only to be returned each time.
Eventually, Sherio stumbled upon Sheryl Smith, who embraced him wholeheartedly, disability and all. Smith had already been actively involved in caring for animals requiring aid, and upon meeting Sherio, she made the decision to give him a loving home.
Sherio is ecstatic that he found a loving family who appreciates him. Since the day Smith adopted him, Sherio has made it his utmost priority to spread joy and optimism. For this reason, he aids Smith in taking care of and nurturing all the creatures they take under their wing.
Sherio takes special care to make sure that the animals he meets are well taken care of and feel safe. He shows them plenty of love and attention, giving them comforting licks and kisses, and does everything in his power to offer them emotional support.
During a chat with the Dodo, Smith recounted an event when he saved a pregnant pooch who was not able to take care of her little ones. The grateful canine, christened Sherio, exhibited remarkable affection and attention by nestling with the pups and tending to them. From that day on, Sherio has consistently displayed nurturing behavior towards all the rescues at Smith’s shelter. Even with stray cats and kittens, Sherio remains calm while sitting next to them, building an unbreakable bond that makes them trust him even more than Smith.
Sherio’s dedication to the well-being of the animals he fosters stems from his personal experiences of being in their position numerous times. Despite finally finding a stable and permanent residence, the trauma of separation anxiety from his past still lingers with him.
As per Smith’s interview with the Dodo, her little one sobs during car rides because he feels anxious about being left at an unfamiliar place. Nevertheless, Smith and her loved ones are actively working towards building his self-assurance.
Sherio has been a great source of help for many animals in need. One such animal that Smith took care of was a little wild kitten called Tiny Tolley. This kitten required urgent attention and Smith was happy to give it the care it needed.
Smith saved a helpless and undernourished kitten that was in dire need of her assistance. She tended to the kitten’s nursing needs until it regained its strength and vigor. As Smith took care of the kitten’s well-being, Sherio, a faithful companion, kept a watchful eye on it.
As soon as Tiny Tolley gathered enough courage to explore the nooks and crannies of the house, he never held back from showing his love by licking and slobbering all over everyone. Even though not everyone appreciated his wet kisses, they always cherished his presence and affection.
Sherio’s past struggles have not hindered his present outlook on life, as he has transformed them into a positive influence. Although he still battles with anxiety, his affection and empathy for animals continue to radiate, positively impacting the lives of every animal he meets. We take immense pride in this remarkable dog, and we are delighted that he has found a caring family who will always reassure him that he is secure, valued, and an integral part of their household.
